iPod Blues Part Trio

Anyone want to buy a slightly scratched 20gb gen 4 iPod?
Yes, it’s fucking up again. Why it refuses to work with 4 pin firewire is something I can’t understand but now it’s also refusing to work with usb2.
iTunes is bitching about some registry thing that stops it from burning CD’s, like I give a fuck as only a moron uses iTunes to burn CD’s anyway.
In fact, the only reason I’m using iTunes is because I tried the free alternatives I could find and they all suck balls. Big hairy ones. And what’s with the alarm clock playlist thing? If I want to set music to wake up by, and I’m not anywhere near my iTunes equipped PC, I’m fucked.
I thought the iPod was meant to be a portable device! So much for being able to wake up to whatever music I want when I’m off travelling, unless I create a playlist with every single song in it, which is just dumb, but is what I’ll probably end up doing anyway.
If you can make a playlist on the go, why the hell can’t you do that for the alarm clock playlist? WHY?!?!
Normally I’d just have smashed it by now and continued on with my life, but this is probably the most expensive thing I’ve ever considered hurling at a wall repeatedly. Now, back to having a whinge.
Why is there no gapless playback? If I’m playing a dance album, I don’t want a second gap between each track! I’m sorry, but that shit does not fly at the parties I go to.
No DJ would ever get away with that at a club and yet Apple promotes this thing like it’s gods gift to portable DJ’s the world over.
There are now clubs where people with iPods are invited to create an “on the go” playlist and then plug it into the clubs sound system.
If people want to dance and get fucked up, they don’t ever want to hear silence, they don’t want to know there is a transition between tracks until after it has occurred, and they certainly don’t want to have to alter their dance moves because the beat is now out.
If you’re on drugs, that kind of thing is more than just a little annoying. Now rather than wait for Apple to fix this in a future firmware upgrade, or wait for iPod linux to work on the gen 4 iPods, I think I’ll just get rid of it and get a rio Karma, which seems to be the only player that does gapless playback.
So long Apple, it’s been… iMotional.
